Vacation Pics from Maine

John and I just returned from a relaxing trip to the Maine coast. We flew into Boston, rented a car and it was an easy drive to Kennebunkport. What a picturesque town! While we were there, there was a big Nor'eastern storm- the winds were around 40mi/hr and the sea was angry- but we kept warm by the fireplace and enjoyed reading books and eating "lobsta".

Halloween Party!

You don't have to be rotating at Methodist this month to be a ghoul...
Everyone is invited to a Halloween Party, this Friday, Nov. 3rd hosted by the charismatic and entertaining Dr. Swanson.
The party begins at 6:30pm- wearing a costume makes it more fun! Call Leann in her office to say that you are coming and to get the directions.
(above picture: Dr. Finks, in costume?)

Bennett and Bethany...this is what the new moms have to look forward to. He's very entertaining and curious- a sharp kid with a lovely mom. Posted by Picasa

Oh Boy!

As you might know, Sonal delivered a bouncing baby boy last month. To help her celebrate, we are collecting gift cards to Target, grocery stores, etc. for a basket to deliver to her. These come in handy for diapers, clothes, formula, and other necessities!
Please bring your gifts to Leann's office or give to Anna, David, Katherine or John by Monday, Oct. 16th.

Skit ideas

If you are interested in helping with the resident video for the Christmas party this year, please get in touch with one of the pre-chiefs asap! We'd like to get started early this year to make the video even better than before. We've got some great ideas, but would like to hear from you. Remember, the party will be Dec. 15th at the Vine on Madison. And yes, we think there will be some free drinks this year...

Tennis

Still waiting to hear from anyone interested in a tennis tournament or finding a new partner- leave a comment below if you are looking for a partner or would be interested in helping set up a resident tournament.

Let's go out with the M4's!

Interested in being a part of recruitment this year? Help us next Wednesday night at 7pm by meeting up at Celtic Crossing for a drink or something to eat and chat with some M4's who are interested in staying at our program. If you know an M4 that might be interested, invite them.
Celtic Crossing has a nice outside area with tables and serves Irish food and all sorts of beer.
See you there!

Ladies' Sunday Night Book Club

For those ladies and wives interested, we will be starting a monthly book club to meet once a month to eat, drink and chat about a selected book. We will be meeting on a Sunday night each month at the Bronte Cafe in Davis Kidd bookstore (they have great food and good wine selection).

If this sounds like fun, please join us for the inaguaral session on October 15th at 6pm! Please let me know if you are coming so that I can make reservations for us- if the group is very big, we may think about splitting into smaller book club groups after this session to get more out of the experience and have a wide variety of books that we can choose to read and have groups about.

The first selection is The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards which is available in paperback at most bookstores.

October News

Hi Everyone!
Hope the fall is treating you well. It's finally October, although it does not feel that way outside. How quickly the first three months flew by!

If you did not know, it is Ramadan as well. Many of our residents are fasting during this time and gathering at night to break the fast. I would like to hear from anyone who could write something to help those of us that may not know the significance of this Religous holiday or would just like to share thier reflections on Ramadan. I'm sure that there are many residents who are curious to know more.

Last month was slow for news, but got a few things in....

Hamid sends pictures of his nephew who recently visited Memphis with his family. Below is a picture of him and Subhan Khan.

And he also sends these other pictures of housestaff, past and present-
Nice glasses Hamid! Who's the lucky lady?

Here's one of Hamid with our former chiefs, Christina and Annie, and Sri (minus baby).

Also, I have heard from Fadee, who sent this of himself in Damascus:

As you may know, the ACP conference was in September and there were some winners from our program! Congratulations to Ali Jafari Mehr and Leann Benson who both took home second place in their categories. And a special blessing goes out to Leann who also had to share a room with Dr. Sprayberry!
